In our recent poll of nearly 2000 Pro Tools users the Universal Audio Apollo audio interface topped our poll as most used audio interface, with nearly 16% of the votes.
It was a close contest for the top slot with just a few percentage points separating the top four from Universal Audio, Digidesign/Avid and Focusrite.
However for the Universal Audio Apollo to take top spot is no mean feat when one considers the Apollo line of interfaces are the new kids on the block, only appearing in January 2012. Furthermore buying into an Apollo also means buying into the UAD ecosystem of plug-ins which can prove costly if one wants to take advantage of the DSP processing.
Having the Digidesign/Avid interfaces in the top places as well is partly accounted for in the fact that many people have inherited them in HD systems or as legacy interfaces included with Pro Tools before Pro Tools was unleashed in version Pro Tools 9.
Notable mention to Focusrite who have worked hard to offer feature-rich and good value interfaces, it's also no mean feat to see Apogee up in the top 5 too bearing in mind that for most they are Mac compatible audio interfaces.
Is the result as you expected? If you are an Apollo user why did you chose it over other interfaces, or did you consider the Apollo and chose another brand?
