We are hearing reports that some users are having problems with this great free tool that helps us to make sure we have the latest versions of all our plug-ins for Pro Tools.
The problem is that when you come to scan your system Plugin Update reports that…
You not connected to the internet. Plugin Update will not be able to to re-scan for updates, or perform other online tasks.
However the computer is very much connected to the internet. I found this problem after I updated to Yosemite but I cannot be sure that was the issue. Community member Bertrand Grichting reported the same problem and he is running OSX 10.8.5 on a MacPro 2008 and Ben Rubin reported the same problem on a Mac Pro through the Disqus comments.
We reached out to the team at Plugin Update and they checked several systems and it is working fine, so we would appear to have a problem that doesn’t affect everyone. So to help the small team behind Plugin Update can you help?
If you have Plugin Update, can you try using it and report in the comments below if it works or you get this error message and also please tell us what computer you have, what version OS you are using, and what version of Pro Tools you are using.
Thanks very much.

Shane has just posted…
PluginUpdate is back online and should be working again as soon as the new DNS propagates to your ISP. If it’s not working, simply restarting your computer may do the trick now.
That is great service.

Note from Shane McFee: PluginUpdate has been discontinued, effective December 22, 2017.
PluginUpdate was a free app that scanned for updates to plugins installed on your system. It supported VST, AU, AAX, RTAS, and TDM formats on the Mac, as well as VST format on Windows-based machines. Due to lack of market interest over the course of 4 years since its inception, the app and underlying service have been discontinued.
For an alternate solution to keeping your plugins up to date, MyKVR is recommended.
The binaries below will still run, but will not connect to a live database.
So this is the end of Plugin Update, what a shame.
